If you want a beautifully designed website for your business you have probably heard of the three website platform front-runners: WordPress, Wix, and Squarespace.

Which platform you should use for your business? We compiled the pros and cons of each platform to help you make the best choice for your business.

We know it is hard to know which platform to choose. We have been there too. Each platform has its own unique features and experience tailored to different types of businesses.

At Robojuice we have experience with numerous platforms. Some popular. Some obscure. Some fully custom.

Before you start. Get help.

Can you do this all by yourself? Technically, yes, but in our experience, although each platform touts ease-of-use not one platform is really easy-to-use.

Find someone in your circle who understands technology to help you make your website if you are not a technical person. DIY website platforms without technical support will eat loads of your time. Once you have a support person, making your choice is not too hard.

Wix

  • Lowest Price: FREE
  • Support: ★★★★☆
  • Template Aesthetics: ★★★★☆
  • Features: ★★★★☆

Cons:

Wix is by far the hardest platform to get your head wrapped around. There are so many options… almost too many. If you need to put together a simple website Wix will frustrate you greatly. Even for the most technical person, Wix can feel like a maze of buttons and features.

Pros:

Wix has the best FREE option. If budget is a really big deal for your business and you can not afford a monthly fee, go with WIX. Wix is also very feature full; while this is a con from a usability standpoint it is a pro from a got-to-have-it position.

Squarespace

  • Lowest Price: $12 a month
  • Support: ★★★★★
  • Template Aesthetics: ★★★★★
  • Features: ★★★★☆

Cons:

Squarespace is the most expensive platform. Squarespace is also hard to use because it offers so much design control and has countless features.

Pros:

Squarespace has the best-looking templates. If you need a site that stands out Squarespace will take you further than Wix. Also, Squarespace is more tolerable when you need several pages for your website.

WordPress.org

  • Lowest Price: ~$10 a month
  • Support: ★★★★★
  • Template Aesthetics: ★★★★★
  • Features: ★★★★★

Cons:

WordPress is very hard to customize properly. If you need to add a feature you need to track down the right plugin hidden among thousands of plugin options.

You also need to choose a hosting company to use WordPress… you can not just set up a WordPress website on WordPress.org. You need to use a company like GoDaddy or BlueHost to use a WordPress website.

Finally, WordPress can be the hardest platform to use because each site built on WordPress is so customizable. However, it is worth noting that WordPress can also be the easiest platform to use if you go with a simpler configuration.

Pros:

WordPress is the most powerful and tested platform on the market. WordPress also has a huge number of professionals that can help you get started. And, Google has partnered with WordPress so there is that benefit.

The Winner

WordPress is by far the best choice. The reason? You are going to need help no matter which platform you choose. WordPress offers the widest range of professionals who are ready to help you make your business website.
